Ruth, this is breathtaking. The portrait revealing Lena in clarity while Mark dissolves into a gray blur is such a perfect image. And that final exchange of texts, "I think I'm being remembered," stopped me completely. The whole piece builds to something that feels less like a story and more like a doorway.
